A Letter from Tom... continued

As a reporter in the early 1970s, I experienced public relations during a time of letters typed with carbon copies, press releases produced on mimeo machines. A few years later, a fax machine — our Palm Beach, FL firm had an Exxon Qwip — was a wonder.

Now, of course, communication has adopted and discarded many tools: the electric typewriter, the word processor, the facsimile, and, in many cases, the phone call and the 30-second ad.
